  1963 Type 3

'67 VW Type 2 Bay Window Camper

This vehicle (one of the earliest UK registered Bays) has undergone a full bare metal body restoration. The body shell was stripped of all corroded panels and chassis sections, then sandblasted to remove any remaining rust/corrosion and every panel except the roof has had welded repairs. The entire lower 9 inches of the body shell, the front panel, the rear side panels, cab seat panels, front wheel arches, cab floor, every cross member, outriggers, jacking points, battery trays, lower corners etc etc were replaced or repaired with new or hand fabricated replacement sections.

Once the body repairs were completed the vehicle was straightened and completely repainted inside and out in Pearl and Mica base and clear and the cavities were wax injected. The underside was then painted in an anti-stone chip and wax coating.

This project is now ready to be mechanically finished, reassembled and trimmed to the owners' specification.

1963 Type 3 "Notchback"

1963 Swedish import Notchback. Project initially required localised rust/corrosion repairs and complete colour change. Further thorough investigation revealed that the bottom 8 inches of the body shell along with the floor pan edges required complete replacement/reconstruction due to extensive corrosion. Every body panel required varying amounts of corrosion repair and thorough straightening. All replacement body panels/sections were hand formed 'in-house' to ensure a precise first time fit. The vehicle is finished in a '2 pack' high lustre gloss black. These pictures show just a small amount of the restoration work that was carried out.

1959 Splitscreen Panel Van

U.S. import fitted with 2.3 litre SAAB engine onto Porsche running gear. Vehicle required water cooling system to be completely redesigned. Two large custom made radiators fitted with thermostatically controlled fans now sit inside handmade aluminium vented plenums.

The raised front wheel arch "tubs" were removed and in house hand fabricated panels were fitted in their place in the original VW style. Bucket seats were removed and factory style brackets have been hand made to locate a factory bench seat.

Bodywork required tidying up and a respray.

Marathon Beetle

This vehicle has been modified with cabriolet sill strengtheners to add torsional rigidity to body shell. Numerous surplus holes were welded and smoothed to restore original appearance. Body has been thermally stripped and phosphate treated. Body shell has been straightened and finished in '2 pack' high lustre deep green whilst the modified floor pan is finished in '2 pack' high gloss black.
